Who are JPOs?
Junior Professional Officers (JPO) are young professionals recruited under bilateral agreements between ITC and the donor countries either contributing to trade-development projects within ITC’s fields of competence or work relating to wider organizational issues.
Benefits of JPO Programme
The ITC JPO programme has been designed to promote new talent and provide valuable work experience for young and motivated professionals. It also aims at enabling the funders to gain representation and enhance career development opportunities for their candidates (either nationals or developing country depending upon funder policy) in the UN system.
The programme provides JPOs with unique learning professional experience in trade-related development projects and, provides ITC an opportunity to engage and develop highly qualified and driven candidates who bring innovative energy to the organization and contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Since its launch in 1980, the ITC JPO programme has welcomed young professional sponsored by Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden and The Netherlands.
Requirements
JPO candidates are young professionals usually with an advanced university degree and minimum two years of job relevant professional experience. More requirements may be required depending on the specific JPO position.
